WSP USA Process Designer, Industrial & Resources in Thornhill, Ontario

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Process Designer to join our Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) team located in Ontario. This position will be based in one of our GTA offices: Thornhill, Etobicoke, or Mississauga. Reporting to the Process Manager, this position will be responsible for producing drawings, models to support the design of a diverse range of Industrial and Manufacturing clients within the region.

A day in the life:

o Work closely with engineers to develop process discipline deliverables such as PFDs and P&IDs, with CAD software in accordance with company or client standards and specifications.

o Experience in drafting mechanical or instrumentation discipline deliverables such as general arrangement/details drawings, plan/elevation view drawings, and instrumentation loop/wiring diagrams would be an asset.

o Development of 2D or 3D CAD deliverables.

o Conduct site visit or survey to collect information and data in supporting projects as needed.

o Work collaboratively and effectively with other engineering/design departments.

o Adhering to the project timelines and budget.

o Review and incorporate vendor and in-house coordination information/drawings onto project deliverables.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

o The successful candidate with 5 to 7 years of related experience shall be skilled in process systems related to industrial and manufacturing facilities.

o Successfully completion of college or diploma in chemical or mechanical engineering design and drafting.

o Excellent computer skills and proficiency with 2D & 3D CAD drafting/modeling programs including AutoCAD, CADWorx, AutoPlant, Hexagon, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft suite of programs.

o Proficiency in ANSI, ISA and ISO standards on P&ID symbology.

o Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all safety regulations.

o Excellent organization skills, detail-oriented and highly motivated.

o Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

o Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

o Ability to handle stressful situations and strict deadlines.

o Must possess a valid driver’s licence.
